50 years of history, 50 years of experience
The company you see today started as P&R Smolenaars Plumbing Pty Ltd in 1975, a family-run business that opened its doors with a small base in Sale. The business flourished and was dedicated to quality workmanship and customer service right from the start, and more family members joined the ranks. In 1998 P&R Smolenaars Plumbing Pty Ltd changed its name to Smolenaars Plumbing Pty Ltd to reflect this growth.
Nine years later, the company transitioned to the Laser Plumbing franchise and with demand continuing to grow, the Traralgon branch opened in 2009. Committed to attracting and retaining Gippsland’s best plumbers, our reputation for dependable workmanship and customer service grew in all areas of our business.
In 2020 we opened a depot in Bairnsdale to better service our broad range of clients. Midway through 2022, we continued our evolution, transitioning from Laser Plumbing to Tequa.
We have consistently delivered premium plumbing services across Gippsland as well as suburban and metropolitan Melbourne. Our skilled plumbers are backed by a leadership team with a combined experience in the plumbing and construction industries that spans decades.
Under the guidance of Company Director Daniel Smolenaars, supported by our management team, we have cemented our reputation for delivering first-class projects on time and within budget. Almost 50 years after our 1975 opening day, we have nearly 100 talented and dedicated employees and three business entities. Our position as industry leaders and innovators is etched in our DNA.

1975
Our journey began when we opened the doors of our first workshop in Sale operating as P & R Smolenaars Pty Ltd.
1998
To reflect the growth of our business and the involvement of more family members, we changed our name to Smolenaars Plumbing Pty Ltd.
2007
We transitioned to Laser Plumbing and began a 15-year association with the group.
2009
The Traralgon brand commenced operations to increase our capability to service Latrobe and West Gippsland.
2020
We increased our capacity to serve the region, opening depots in Bairnsdale and Warragul.
2023
Our evolution continued. We rebranded to Tequa Plumbing and Civil to remain locally owned and operated.
2025
We look forward to celebrating 50 years of growth, innovation, and success. Stay tuned!
